Getting Off the Ground

I've been dreaming of writing for most of my life. It always came across to me as a noble and compassionate profession: To sit and write a story from start to finish is an act of compassion and patience.
I've never been one to pray for material things, however, definitely for the invaluable things of life, including things like patience and compassion. In the days we are in with the advent and dependence on AI, it is easy for such things as writing using critical thinking to fall by the wayside. But, thankfully, there are limitations to AI that only humans can provide.
One thing I love about 'back home,' and that I know to be true is that we are a people of innovation and reinvention. We can create where others might consider garbage. We can innovate in any circumstance. I know these are possible because I've seen it in so many of my people in Tigray and across Ethiopia.
I have many dreams for Cactus Fruit Journal that I hope to implement in the next few years. I am often not sure where to start, and who to contact. I am also aware of the impression that some people have of me, what I can do, where I come from, supposed limitations of Tigray and organising there, etc. Despite our pride, we can be incredibly cruel to each other. I believe in the power of positive influence, and I hope I can inspire others in the process of this journey to establishing Cactus Fruit Journal. Of course, God's favour and blessing always.
